A31 Reopened Following Fatal Crash

The A31 fully reopened in the early hours following a serious accident which closed the road in both directions for several hours in Ringwood at the junction with the A338 last night.

The accident involved four cars and occurred shortly before 6pm near the Ringwood flyover.

The driver of a Daihatsu, believed to be a man in his 70's was later pronounced dead. Drivers of the other vehicles are not reported to have sustained any injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident to contact the Roads Policing Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgnt Tester on the Hampshire Police 101 telephone number - quoting Operation Calvert.
