The recent announcement of the 74 locations on the 2012 Olympic torch relay route had me in trepidation as Weymouth is hosting the sailing events. So is Ringwood on the route?

Well, the route starts in Lands End and obviously finishes in London covering 8,000 miles across every region in the UK including islands such as the Isle of Man. The locations are not finalised and organisers have announced that more locations will be added in time.
The route has been planned so as to come within one hour journey of 95% of the UK population, so everyone will have access to see one of the 8000 anticipated torch bearers brining the torch to the 2012 Olympic venue in London.
The torch relay begins on Saturday 19th May 2012 and will take 70 days to reach its final destination.
· Wednesday 11th July..... Day 54 the torch will stay in Salisbury
· Friday 13th July............. Day 56 the torch will stay in Bournemouth
· Sunday 14th July............Day 57 the torch will stay in Southampton
There is a campaign called "moment to shine" in which people get the chance to nominate others who are/have been "inspirational" in the community. So get voting for Ringwood local heroes who deserve this opportunity. There are 7,200 places open to nominations so check out the website for more information.
Only 430 days to go! whoop whoop
