Planning Appeal to be Held Over McCarthy & Stone Development in Ringwood
By ringwoodnews | Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 16:52
McCarthy & Stone Retirement Lifestyles Ltd will be taking proposals for a new Ringwood development to appeal following a decision by New Forest District Council to reject the plans.
The controversial site in Mount Pleasant Lane, Ringwood would mean demolishing five properties to build thirty nine retirement flats.
The Council received twenty three objection letters and a petition signed by over 130 people, mainly concerned about the density of the scheme, increased traffic movements and the overall impact to the locality.
McCarthy & Stone were said to be 'very disappointed' at the decision, especially as they had had a lot of interest from potential purchasers keen to move to a retirement property in Ringwood.
The appeal will be heard in February 2012.
Comments
McCarthy & Stone bring out all the barristers and qualified experts at the appeal stage with boxes of support documents. This is their standard practise, they usually get their way. It would need something monumental to scupper their appeal. I have no spare time to dedicate to this but a huge mass petition or similar is required to counter the appeal.
