RINGWOOD SCHOOL AND BROCKENURST COLLEGE STUDENTS ARE TOP OF THE CLASS

The anxious wait is over for local students from Ringwood and the New Forest as they were given the news of their examination results this morning. The class of 2011 have been celebrating their success, having achieved excellent A level results again this year.

At Ringwood School provisional A Level results indicate that 100% of students achieved a pass at A Level A*- E grade With 68% of students achieving a high pass rate A*-B. 

23% of the exams entered by students gained A*/A grades with 50% achieving A*/A /B grades and 77% achieving A*-C grades an increase on last year.

Students at Ringwood School also achieved a 100% pass rate on BTEC courses, with an overall pass rate of 99%. The average points score per entry of 221 was above the school target.

Ringwood School Headteacher Chris Edwards said "We are absolutely delighted with the results this year. Students have worked really hard over the past two years with the help and support of teachers and now have the grades they need to move on to the next phase of their learning.

This year group have really thrown themselves into school life is so many ways, and have left a very positive legacy for future generations we will certainly miss them. We wish everyone all the very best for the future they certainly deserve to do well."

The majority of students from the school will have secured the right grades to take up their first or second choice university places. The schools two highest achievers were Michael Faggetter who is now going on to Imperial College to study Geophysics), and Patrick Howell-Day who is studying Economics at Cambridge.

Meanwhile, in the heart of the New Forest there were whoops of joy as students at Brockenhurst College celebrated another record year of A Level results.

Staff were delighted with the bumper year of results, maintaining an excellent overall pass rate of 99%. More than 1 in 4 of all students achieved A* or A grade with more than half of students gained A* - B grades, and three quarters of all candidates attaining A* - C.

In thirty two A level subjects the pass rate was an outstanding 100%.

Principal, Di Roberts said "These are yet again outstanding A level results for Brockenhurst College students. The pass rate and top grades together with outstanding International Baccalaureate results reflect the ability and hard work of both students and staff in one of the best colleges in the country.

I am delighted for our students, their parents and our staff. Congratulations and well done to all".

Brockenhurst College students are also afforded the opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate. The rigorous study option stretches candidates academically, and here too students celebrating their success with an overall pass rate of 88%, with 72% of students achieving the equivalent of 3.5 grad As at A level.

Earlier in the day the UCAS website which assists students across the country in finding available university places through clearing, was reported to have crashed due to the overwhelming volume of people attempting to access the system.

    Well done and good luck to them. There are plenty of young kids who work had and deserve to do well. It's tough out there and with the university fees and job situation I wouldn't want to be in their shoes.
