The Bicycle World shop on Christchurch Road, Ringwood, has become the latest victim of crime.

Over £20,000 of new stock was stolen in mid July by, what looks to be, a professional gang. The gang broke in through the rear of the premises using force, turned off all the lights and appears to have known exactly what they wanted. Some of the new stock was still in boxes.

It is highly unlikely that this is a local gang, the stolen bikes are now probably in another part of the country, but if you do happen to be offered a new bicycle or hear whispers of new bikes available for sale, then please contact Ringwood police station to forward on any information.

Bicycles, cars and anything with wheels appear to be on the robber’s checklist.

In Salisbury there have been thefts, and attempted thefts, of 25 scooters and mopeds. The vehicles are often recovered or found burnt out after the thief has become bored with his new toy.

Please be extra vigilant of suspicious behaviour in and around Ringwood of anyone near cars, mopeds, bicycles and report it. Do NOT buy a bicycle from an unknown source as you are fueling the desire for more crime.

Buying stolen goods is the same as stealing them yourself.

I've had my mongoose mountain bike for 10 years, bought from a reputable bicycle shop just like Bicycle World. I think all bikes should be registered to an owner like cars with an id number on them like a cars vin number.
