The National Curriculum is under review and we have been given the opportunity to share are opinions on how the National Curriculum is working and whether it should be updated.

There is an online questionnaire for parents, pupils and teachers to complete by 14th April 2011 on the current National Curriculum and requests our suggestions in how this could be amended to better serve our children. The information is fed back to the Government and teaching professionals who will make the final decisions.

The Call of Evidence is about reshaping the National Curriculum for primary and secondary schools in England. The consultation has been open since January 2011 with more than 4000 responses so far.

There is a general feeling that the National Curriculum has become too large and outdated for teachers to manager effectively and that, like all things, a review of the content is required to ensure our children are getting the best possible education to suit the needs of our ever changing times.

The questions to debate are whether algebra is still relevant in modern teaching, what are our international neighbours are doing in schools that is working successfully that we could emulate and whether parents are being given the right information to assist them with extra work at home.

This is a great opportunity for all of us to get involved in the education system by voicing our opinions that may help shape teaching for generations to come.

Take the online questionaire now.
