I noticed the signs up for vehicles being directed to the Rallye Sunseeker but was not aware of what the event was so I thought I would do some research.

The Rallye Sunseeker International is a car rally that forms part of the Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship 2011. This rally has been coming to the Bournemouth area and Ringwood for 26 years and is now the South’s biggest car rally event.
Somerley Park plays host to the Rally in Ringwood but combines this with a Motorfair for motoring enthusiasts with lots of motoring stalls, retail stands and old cars to admire with food for all. The site of the Motorfair is within eye watering distance of the two high speed special stages.
The 3 sights set up for the rally driving in and around Ringwood were one at Uddens, one at Ringwood and one in Somerley Park, all having one stage starting in the morning and one in the afternoon with very well organised spectator areas allocated.
It was good to read about the Richard Burns Foundation that was hosting the awards in Bournemouth. I watched Richard Burns in awe when he was the world’s number one rally driving in 2001 and then followed his career sporadically until his unexpected death in 2005 of a brain tumour, he was incredible.
The 11 stages held in Ringwood were exciting in very wet conditions but the victors were David Bogie and Kevin Rae. You can gain further information from the website.
Events like these are fantastic for Ringwood but we need to know about them in advance, I would have loved to attend this event but I saw absolutely no advertising until I saw the ‘parking notices’.
If you know of any upcoming events in Ringwood then please please update the website for all to see.
