Would you like to win a prize for taking photographs of your favourite places in the New Forest? Anyone with a camera is invited to take pictures of their “dream views” of either ponies on the forest, outstanding view points or just favourite places to have a picnic or pub lunch.

The Director of Information and Services is inviting people to take pictures of whatever they love about this special place.
In 2009, Ben Freer won first prize for his beautiful ‘New Forest at dawn’ photograph of Long Pond at Burley. He captured the tranquility of the early morning on the forest with reflections of the water, trees and the rising sun.
The winner for the outstanding picture category went to Anthony Norris with his ‘long walk home’. The photograph was a snowing scene of ponies walking across the heath in the snow with a stunning cloudy backdrop in a perfectly framed black and white photograph. See the website for these terrific pictures and more winning photos.

The “dream view” competition is a continuation of the “dream visit” competition where visitors and residents are invited to use their local shops, travel by train, bicycle or walk (leaving their cars behind), visit New Forest attractions, spot wildlife, photography ponies, pick up a pocket guide and learn more about the history of the New forest in exchange for points and possible prizes.
I will be taking my camera out with me to photography many sites around Ringwood that I find particularly inspiring. Burley won a prize last year, this year it will be a Ringwood photo that will be on display.
There are four categories to enter including an under 16’s for young aspiring professionals. The closing date for this competition is Friday 22nd October 2010 and all winning pictures will be exhibited at the New Forest Centre, Lyndhurst in 2011. For further information follow the link below.
