The Alcatraz Group have the art of turning old pubs into modern, classy, comfortable places to eat.
The Old Beams has a terrific reputation but when we went for a late Sunday lunch they had stopped serving! It was a Sunday and it was one of those days when you really only wanted to eat a lovely roast.
It was a gorgeous day but the Manager had not been paying attention to the rear garden area as it was very scruffy and unkept. It really detracted from the modern, clean feel of the interior. No flowers, no mowed lawn, in fact we wouldnt have wanted to sit out there.
The outside is as important to keep tidy as is the inside. We havent been back since.
Food ok, but we wanted a roast.

This pub is visually stunning, an old attractive village pub, complete with a thatched roof, apparently it dates back to the 6th century. I had lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the ingredients were extremely fresh and full of flavour and everything was homemade. Its a lovely place to relax and enjoy the history and character of the building.
