Pete Clark goal
The FA Cup competition commenced on Friday 13th August at the Canotec
Stadium, Ringwood, where a crowd of around 150 watched Ringwood FC beat Cowes
Sports 5-0 in spectacular style. The team played with real spirit right
from the outset as Pete Clarke scored the first goal in the
12th minute from a corner with the second goal just three minutes
later as Paul Burnett took advantage of a goal clearance from Jon
Pageto pass Cowes unprotected goalie Chris Norris.
Confidence was high as the home team dominated the first half while the
visitors tried to settle into the game.
When Carl Fleet was replaced by Jake Ormond,
the tempo increased as Ormond won a number of corners resulting in no less than
7 close range shots to goal. It wasDan Taylor that finally got the
inevitable 3rd goal.
As half time loomed it was Paul Burnett again to take
the 4th goal of the first half from a great run and pass from Dan Taylor.
Cowes made some changes after half time by replacing both full backs and
switched to just 3 across the back. Jamie Dyer had his first goal attempt on 48
minutes requiring a good save from Page before Ringwood regained control of the
game again. Dan Morrell had a goal attempt but Ringwood seemed
happy to just maintain possession for the second half of the match.
Kane Chattey replaced Dan Taylor and Pete Old replaced Pete Clarke
during the second half. The final goal came from a chip by Howes from
a free kick that seemed to be heading safely into the keepers arms when Mark
Burrett managed to get a knee to the ball nip it over the line.
Ringwood will play Yate Town at home on August 28th in
Preliminary Road.

ReportPeople of Ringwood let us know how we can encourage you to support us. Wimborne regularly have 200+ fans at their games and the town is only slightly larger than Ringwood. They charge £8 to get in as well!
Because of the league we play in, the league set a minimum entry price of £4. For league games we give you a free drink and always let Under 16's in free.
What more can we do to attract your support? This is a genuine question, let me know and I'll try my best to make it happen.
